The crowd that attended the Tyler Shields launch at Imitate Modern made it feel more like a West End club opening than a highbrow art exhibition. It delivered a Jeeves & Hawkes load of Saville Row suits and plastic surgery laden old women, that even the Bride of Wildenstein would have felt at home with. I guess being so close to Harley Street, it was only to be expected.
For all Rankin’s love / hate affair with the arts crowd, Tyler Shields’ work is a combination of pop culture at its portrait-only worst. In days when young British art is at its creative best, the Imitate Modern show in Marylebone showed that high end gallery spaces still favour high value, low quality photography over the new breed of uber-creative young talent that makes Britain Great at art.
The anticipated celebrity guestlist never managed to materialise and the only notable attendees, were Chloe Green and Tamara Ecclestone. Ahead of the highly anticipated Frieze Art Fair, it was a night that unfortunately signalled everything that is wrong with the art world in London.

Imitate Modern has 2 positions for interns to work on a high profile exhibition for Tyler Shields and Maximilian Wiedemann, opening in mid October.

On this unpaid internship the interns will learn how to generate high levels of free press for artists. As PR is the most important ingredient in promoting an artists career, the skills available to you here are invaluable.

Candidates should be bright, dedicated and hard working. The placement is from early August until mid October, at least 3 days a week, 8 - 10 hours a day, in W1, Central London.

Fatherhood is GREAT!! Ethen is a brilliant son and is so chilled out
and keyed out.

No problems on sleeping or eating and he smiles and laughs A LOT. He
ususally sleeps between 6 and 8 hours a night and sleeps in his own
room and when it is time for bed, we put him to bed, feed him, give
him his dummy tell him its time to sleep and give him a kiss and most
times he just falls asleep on his own!

I did not make the IAS event as I was babysitting so that Julia could
go to the event.

Same head as Wheeler? BRILLIANT!! I am sure she is going to be cute!

Hello, my name is Nick Woodmansey, and here is a little bit about myself:

I am twenty three. I have a family of two in London: my wife Elizabeth, and my daughter Nicolette.

My parents live in Sussex.

I am a drummer and a painter. I am currently working as a muralist/specialist decorator. I have been working with two music projects recently: "Ultravibe" along with Elizabeth (who sings), and a good friend, Jesse Reuban Wilson. (We have released one album in l996 and we are ready to work on the next). The other is a different kind of project: ranging from jazz and funk to hip-hop!

I work at Celebrity Center London, 27 Westbourne Grove, where I arrange music/artistic entertainment for Friday nights. Celebrity Centre is a Scientology Organization for artists and is where I started some of my courses.

I am interested in meeting musicians/artists. This is pretty much me in a nutshell!

I have had many successes with Scientology, over the last six years especially. Both my parents are Scientologists, so I have been brought up with a very easy, happy, family life-style. But it wasn't really until I was around l7 or l8 years old before I realized that this was for me! (Scientology that is!)

I was always backed-up by my family on my goals in life---Music and Art. In these subjects I am pretty much self taught (although I was taught the basics of drumming by my Dad!).

It wasn't really until I was working in these fields, (mainly the music business), that I ran into one difficulty: communicating easily and freely without getting nervous and embarrassed. This was something I couldn't do.... without a couple of drinks. I never drank on a daily basis or anything, and I know people who drink more than I did. But it was a problem for me-----socially.

I started to get physically run down from it and I felt lethargic constantly!

I did the "Purification Rundown" at a Scientology organization, which was simply a program of sauna and vitamins which gets all toxins out of your body. It worked! I had clearer thinking and better memory! Physically and spiritually I continue to have more gains the more courses I do in Scientology.

In the "School of Scientology", which is the center of Moscow today raided by investigators. In a chic, equipped with the latest technology spiritual center, participants suggested that the specialized literature for hundreds of thousands of rubles. Among the books there were also banned in Russia works which, according to experts, the destroyed minds and human health.

NTV correspondent Artyom Kolodkin watched as police foiled a lesson.

Moscow police search scientology church

Moscow, October 6, Interfax - Moscow police have been searching the Church of Scientology on Taganskaya Street since Thursday morning, a law enforcement source has told Interfax.

The search could be part of a criminal investigation by the Moscow region's Investigative Committee into the distribution of scientology literature of the extremist nature, the source said.

No official confirmation of this report has been immediately available.

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy founded by American Ron Hubbard.

In late June, the Prosecutor General's Office declared several of Hubbard's books extremist.

Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of the town of Schyolkovo near Moscow petitioned the city court to ban extremist materials by scientology's founder. The court upheld the plea.

Once the ruling comes into force, the banned literature is automatically included into the list of extremist materials barred from distribution in Russia.

In May, scientologists claimed that the Justice Ministry had excluded Hubbard's books from the "black list."
I am speechless.
